Originally presented as precognitive in the pages < Captain England and then as a telepathist, the character ends up having a mind placed in the body of a Japanese female ninja known as Kwannon, obtaining many of Kwannon's martial arts skills and elements of her personality. The Psylocke name code, coined by X-Men Mojo and Spiral villains, debuted during its introduction to the post-Cap England stories of the X-Men. Later, Psylocke gained the power of telekinesis.

Publishing history

Origins

Created by writer Chris Claremont, Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock first appeared in Captain Britain (Dec. 1976), published by Marvel Comics' UK trail of Marvel UK. The original spelling of the character's name is "Elizabeth", although the repetition of the English version for reprints of America will sometimes be misspelled as "Elisabeth". This leads to spelling inconsistencies throughout future publications. Inconsistency was completed by Claremont 32 years later in 2008 in the series of New Exiles , which confirms a particular spelling of its name as "Elizabeth". In the Captain Britain series, Claremont introduced him as a supporting character, brother of Brian Braddock, the famous British Captain, and set his career as a charter charter. He also determined that he possessed psychic abilities, to which extent was unknown, although no explanation was given to this power. In Marvel UK Super Spider-Man and Captain Britain # 243 (October 1977), Betsy Braddock is presented as a professional model.

In Marvel UK's # 3 (March 1983), Alan Moore determined that the character has begun working for the fictitious government organization S.T.R.I.K.E., which utilizes his psychic abilities. Her lover Tom Lennox was also an S.T.R.I.K.E agent and was later murdered. The story also features characters such as coloring her hair after becoming blond; Hair color is then a dominant representation of the character. The next major change for the character came in 1986 when it relaunched the Captain Britain series, in which Betsy Braddock defended his brother as England Captain, and blinded by Slaymaster supervillain.

X-Men

In Annual New Mutual # 2 (1986), Claremont integrates Braddock into the X-Men franchise. His story saw him kidnapped into Mojoverse, where he was subjected to brainwashing, fitted with bionic eyes, and referred to as "Psylocke" for the first time. After being saved by the New Mutants, he lives in their mutant-training academy, run by Magneto at the time in the absence of Professor Charles Xavier. After helping the team unofficially, Braddock proved himself by turning the horrific Sabretooth killer's attention. Afterwards, Braddock was formally invited to join X-Men and officially adopted the codename "Psylocke".

Originally written as pure telepath with a little fighting skill, Psylocke then adopted a body armor. In Uncanny X-Men # 251 (November 1989), X-Men escaped from cybernetic terrorists, Reavers, through Siege Perilous, an extra-dimensional teleportation device. Braddock now-amnesia is taken by Hand, who brainwashed and physically transformed him to perform in East Asia so he can mingle in Hong Kong. Braddock now believes herself as "Lady Mandarin", the supreme murderer of Hand. After he was rescued by Wolverine X-Men and overcame his brainwashing, the characters retained combat skills provided through Hand modification techniques as well as the ability to manifest focused telepathy in the form of a "psychic knife".

With the release of the second volume of X-Men (later renamed X-Men: Legacy ) in 1991, the team split up, with Psylocke joining a team led by Cyclops. In a matter written by Jim Lee, his character became flirty with Cyclops, eventually trying to seduce him. At this point, Kwannon, a new character with Braddock's physical appearance before Hand manipulation, claimed to be the original Psylocke, accused Braddock of showing Japan as a cheater. After Jim Lee and six other creators left Marvel Comics to find Image Comics, the new scriptwriter Fabian Nicieza determined that Kwannon was a con artist and that Braddock's temptation with Cyclops was part of the genetic and mental connection that Kwannon's imposter was first created.

In 1994, writer Scott Lobdell set the relationship between Braddock and his partner Archangel. His character was badly wounded by a crazy Sabretooth inside Lobdell-written Uncanny X-Men # 328. His life was saved by the use of a mystical artefact known as Dawn of Crimson, a side-effect of Psylocke's ability to teleport in and out of shadows. Lobdell also temporarily removed it from the X-Men list of this issue. Braddock returns to the team at X-Men , vol. 2 # 77-78, where she uses her Crimson Dawn-enhanced telepathy to trap the Shadow King in an astral plane. Any use of telepathy will result in his release, so he forgives his use of his telepathic abilities. Some time later he will develop telekinesis for the first time. The Psylocke relationship with Archangel ends at Claremont written by X-Men, vol. 2 # 109, where the characters start a relationship with the brand new Indian X-Men Neal Shaara, also known as Thunderbird.

In Claremont-written X-Treme X-Men # 2 (2001), the character dies, comic book death lasts until 2005 Uncanny X-Men # 455; Claremont also writes this issue, then states that he always intends to revive him. In short, the character is depicted in the Exiles , a comic-book series of spin-offs in the X-Men franchise, set in an alternate universe. With the cancellation of New Exile , Psylocke starred in her first solo book, X-Men: Braddock Sword one-shot. After that, the characters were brought back to the main Marvel Universe in early 2009 on the pages of Uncanny X-Men . Beginning in November 2009, Psylocke is featured in four editions of self-titled problems, written by Christopher Yost and drawn by Harvey Tolibao; Matsu'o Tsurayaba and Wolverine are central figures in the story.

Fictional character biography

â € <â €

Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock was born in England and grew up in the small town of Maldon, Essex. Betsy is the second son of Sir James Braddock and he, his twin brother Brian, and Jamie's brother have a very special life. By the time their parents died, Betsy had become a charter pilot. After he and Jamie were taken hostage by Red Skull agents and released by Captain America and England Captain, Betsy learned that the last one was his brother, Brian. By this time Betsy began to develop pracognitive powers. She colored her hair in purple and took the model. At the age of sixteen, his inner strength is fully manifested, which grows including telepathy. Agent Matthew recruited Betsy to the Psi Division S.T.R.I.K.E., and he became fellow lover Tom Lennox. Because he inherited the Hell Club membership from his father, Betsy was sent to infiltrate, but was warned by Tessa for her own protection. He also meets Warren Worthington's future lover for the first time at one of the Hellfire Club parties.

When Vixen's crime head hired Slaymaster to remove the Psi Division, only Betsy, Tom Lennox, and their friend Alison Double were left when Brian defeated him. When reality buckled by the power of James Jaspers, Tom sacrificed himself to give Braddocks time to escape from a group of superhero hunters. Betsy was in Tom's mind when he died; felt his death, he was left traumatized. After a warp of reality repair, the wicked version of the English Captain of another universe named Kaptain Briton exchanged spots with Brian. Double tried to rape Betsy. To defend himself, he telepathically kills him. That same night, the twins were informed of the origins of their father's Otherworld, and a new intelligence agent named R.C.X. asking them to fend off the Warpies, the children were changed by Jasper's coil, at the Manor, which caused a fight between Betsy and Brian.

When Brian goes overseas, Matthew (now Gabriel's code name) convinces Betsy to become the new England Captain, wearing a modified Kaptain Briton costume. Working with Captain UK, this duo became a public sensation. After a few months, Vixen's criminal boss provoked Betsy into a dispute with Slaymaster, who brutally beat him, then gouged out his eyes. Brian flies to save him and kills Slaymaster. Betsy rejected the cybernetic eye offer of R.C.X., preferring to rely on his psychic abilities; he and Gabriel went to Switzerland for Betsy to recover.

X-Men

Betsy was kidnapped from the Alps by Mojo, brainwashed, given cybernetic eyes, and, as "Psylocke", became the star of her new show "Wildways". Brian and the New Mutant rescue him, after which Betsy moves to X-Men's home to recover, right where Rome, Guardian of the Omniverse, needs it. When Robbers attacked Morlocks, X-Mansion was used as a temporary hospital for injured victims of the massacre. Knowing that X-Men was away in New York, Sabretander Robbers invaded the mansion. Psylocke uses himself as a decoy to take him away from the wounded until X-Men comes to his aid. While Sabretooth and Wolverine fought, Psylocke used telepathy to gather information about Robbers and their leader, Mr. Sinister, from Sabretooth's mind. Wolverine, though initially reluctant to involve outsiders in X-Men affairs, was impressed by his courage and nominated him to join the team.

As X-Man he meets Mephisto, Dr. Doom and Fantastic Four, and Horde. X-Men then fought against the Freedom Force and Adversary in Dallas, and, in a battle broadcast on television, sacrificed himself to allow Forge to bind the Adversary; Rome secretly restored them to life, and gave Betsy Siege Perilous, which they could use if they wanted to start a new life. X-Men moved to Outback Australia headquarters, from where they took Brood, Genoshan Magistrates, Mister Sinister and Queen Goblin, M Squad, Mr. Jeep and the Serpent Society, Master Mold and Nimrod, Nanny and Orphan-Maker, and Zaladane and the Savage Land Mutates. When they will leave the Land of Savage, Betsy has a scout flash from Reavers that kills the team. To prevent this, he sent them through Siege Perilous.

Changed

Betsy reappears amnesia on an island near China, where the Hands, a ninja clan, finds it. Matsu'o Tsurayaba, their leader, saw an opportunity to rescue his dead-brain lover, Kwannon. Spiral tells Matsu'o that Psylocke telepathy can restore Kwannon, and Matsu'o is accepted. Unknown to Matsu'o, however, the Spiral actually put the two minds of women into their respective bodies. He also combines their genetic structure, leaving both women with other physical and mental characteristics, and with each having half of Psylocke's telepathic powers. With some physical and mental conditioning, Psylocke - who inhabits Kwannon's body - becomes the chief killer of Hand, takes the name of Lady Mandarin. He gained tremendous fighting skills and learned to focus his telepathic power into a "psychic knife". Lady Mandarin's first mission pitted her with Wolverine. Betsy's psychic knife attack reveals Wolverine's memories of who he was and let him break away from the condition of Hands.

Psylocke rejected her role as Lady Mandarin and escaped with Wolverine and Jubilee, eventually going with them to the island state of Genosha, where the New Mutants have been kidnapped along with the X-Men leader, Storm, by Cameron Hodge. After the defeat of Hodge, X-Men reunited and returned to New York. Psylocke then joined the Blue Team led by Cyclops, for whom he showed a clear interest. When the Phoenix knew, the two women fought, but were distracted by the arrival of Kwannon, now calling himself Revanche, in Betsy's former body, who claimed to be the real Psylocke. Can not tell which one is really Betsy, both live with X-Men, maintaining an uncomfortable coexistence. Learning he has a Legacy Virus, Revanche has Matsu'o killed him, restoring the full personality and potential of Psylocke telepathy. After getting involved with Angel's teammate, the following months see him against the Phalanx, trying to reach Jamie's coma, Legion battle in Israel, and fighting Gene Nation.

Crimson Dawn

When Sabretooth destroyed Psylocke, Angel, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, and Gomurr the Ancient took the magic liquid from Dawn Crimson's dimensions that healed him and gave him a new ability to teleport through the shadows, but also marked him with a red tattoo on his left eye. His personality takes a cold edge, which creates a distance between him and Warren. Kuragari, Proctor of the Crimson Dawn, tries to claim Betsy as his wife, but is foiled with the help of Gomurr and Angel, freeing Betsy from the influence of Dawn. However, Psylocke still retains the capabilities associated with it. Immediately after this incident, the couple retired from active duty with X-Men.

Furthermore, he helps the Storm against the Shadow King, who deceives Psylocke to start a psychic shock wave that incapacitates all other telepaths, making him unchallenged on astral planes. Her astral form was destroyed, but her exposure to Crimson Dawn gave her a new shadow shape with enhanced temporary strength, which she used to trap the core of Shadow King. To get him trapped, he is forced to constantly focus his telepathy on himself, effectively rendering himself powerless.

Revolutions and X-Treme

Jean Gray's efforts to help Betsy deal with Shadow King somehow swap their power, leaving Betsy telekinetic. With his new ability, Betsy fought Belasco, Neo, Goth, Crimson Pirates, Twisted Sisters, and Prime Sentinels, then helped his brother free the Other World from Warpie Mastermind troops. After ending his relationship with Archangel, Betsy joins the X-Men X-Men Storm team to search for Destiny's diary.

In Valencia, Psylocke was killed in a battle with a man known as Vargas while protecting the Rogue and Beast, being beaten by criminals. Brian Braddock and Meggan collect the Psylocke body from Spain. He is buried in the home of the Braddock family and a memorial for him was set up at X-Mansion by the Beast.

Awakening

One year after his death, Betsy woke up where he died, did not realize how he survived, and soon reunited with X-Men, helping them fight Saurian Hauk'ka, and Mojo and Spiral. Jamie began to vehemently observe his resurrected brother, allowing him to occasionally see it. Betsy reunited with Brian during the "House of M" reality storm of Scarlet Witch. When the timeline is set up correctly, the memories of their meeting take on a dreamlike state, prompting Betsy and some X-Men to visit London to check Brian's status.

Back in the US, Betsy and X-Men fail to stop Shi'ar Command of Death from slaughtering the Gray family, who are targeted to die because of their relationship with Phoenix, but help defeat them before they can kill Rachel Gray. With First Fallen's servant Foursaken, who will move, Jamie reveals his part in Betsy's revival to X-Men: sensing the imminent threat of a strong cosmic First Fallen (a sign of "perfection" frozen and immortal) and learning about the death of Betsy, annoyed Jamie awaken him, reach back all the time to stop his passion into life after death. Asking him to be a weapon to use against First Fallen, Jamie tightened the "quantum string" of Betsy's body, making him immune to external manipulation, increasing his telekinetic power, and making him invisible to the First Fallen senses. Jamie was kidnapped by Foursaken before he could fully inform them of an imminent threat; trying to save him, X-Men is easily captured, except for Betsy, who finds himself invisible to Foursaken's senses. Distracting their efforts to grant full access to Earth to the First Fall, Betsy and X-Men are drawn into his territory, the Town of Singing, where Betsy's immunity to his mental control allows him to free the citizens of the City, including Foursaken, from domination. As the angry First Fallen attacks them, Jamie sends X-Men home as he holds the entity back, apparently sacrificing himself.

Back in England to tell Brian about Jamie's fate, Betsy learned that Shadow Xavier, the leader of Shadow X-Men, had taken over the thoughts of his prison in Crossmore Prison, and demanded to meet him. Accompanied by Excalibur, Betsy visits the prison, where Xavier reveals his true identity as the Shadow King, and tries to take revenge, after Excalibur attacks Brian so that Betsy can witness his death; However, immune to his control, Betsy telekinetik induce a stroke in Xavier's body, freeing Excalibur. Before he could finish him off, Psylocke interdimensional was teleported to Crystal Palace at Nexus of All Realities.

Exiles

Appearing at Exile headquarters, the heroes gather from some reality to protect Omniverse; Both the Missing Persons choice of Psylocke as the latest recruits, and at the same time, apparently the result of Roman manipulation, once again transferring one of its pawns to where it is needed as part of a larger plan. His first mission with the Lost People brought Betsy face-to-face with Slaymaster Earth-1720, brutally reminding him of Slaymaster's reality that blinded him. After escaping, Slaymaster-1720 starts killing Betsy Braddock in every reality he visits.

Meanwhile, determined to confront his fears, Psylocke begins a rigorous exercise to prepare him for his next meeting. He returns to Earth-616 to tell Brian that he's still alive. Almost immediately both the Lost and the Excalibur are called to defend the Otherworld, assaulted by the Furies forces created by the resurrected Mad Jim Jaspers; although the heroes won, the Exiles were abandoned as the main supporters of Omniverse until the destroyed British Captain Captains could be rebuilt. Opting to stay with the Exiles, Betsy travels to some realities. After arriving on a certain Earth, Psylocke suffered a mental disorder because Psylocke's psychic world was at war with Betsy's own soul to control her body. This reality Ogun approached Psylocke and offered to train him so that he could avenge the death of his disciple, who was killed by Slaymaster. Psylocke finally tracked him down to Earth-616 and killed him. Betsy returns to the Crystal Palace, becomes involved with the team's Sabbath, and promises to honor her mission as Exile.

Back

Somehow, Psylocke was kidnapped by Sisterhood Madelyne Pryor while traveling between parallel worlds. They also stole Betsy's original body, in which Kwannon had died, in the cemetery. Rituals of sorts with both bodies are performed, resulting in Betsy's original body being revived. The Sisterhood, now including brainwashed Psylocke, attacked X-Men. Dazzler was forced to use his power in Psylocke, blowing half of Betsy's face. Dazzler's attack shocked Betsy back into consciousness, allowing him to overcome the Red Queen's control and return to his Japanese body.

After these events, Psylocke's power changed once more; he now has telepathic and telekinetic abilities, but with his psionic potential shared amongst them, no ability is as strong as it used to be. The following days saw Betsy go back in time with the Beast's X-Club. Psylocke also leads the X-Club in a mission to improve Asteroid M, which is at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, to serve as X-Men's new base of operations and a haven for mutantkind, called Utopia. Soon after, Psylocke went to Japan with Wolverine to return to his former ex. Upon arrival, he was ambushed by the Hand, who destroyed his original body on the orders of Matsu'o Tsurayaba. Angry, Psylocke tracks Matsu'o, finding him deeply disabled as a result of Wolverine's annual revenge on Matsu'o for his role in the murder of Mariko Yashida. Matsu'o, now losing both hands and other body parts, wanted an honorable death and wanted Psylocke to give him that honor because he could not hold a knife to do seppuku himself. This puts Psylocke in conflict with Wolverine, who feels that Matsu'o's punishment has not ended. Psylocke engaged Wolverine in a brutal fight that ended in a ceasefire. With the permission of Wolverine, Psylocke spent Matsu'o generously, using telepathy to project the illusion into his mind about his restored body and Kwannon embraced him. Psylocke quickly killed her with a psi-blade.

During the Nation X storyline, Psylocke, Wolverine, and Colossus were sent to a gutter under San Francisco to investigate the missing Predator X case. They ran to Fantomex, who had killed the beast. Psylocke against Sublime colleagues with the help of Fantomex and his colleagues. During the Necrosha storyline, Psylocke joins the Rogue team sent to Muir Island to fight the resurrected Proteus. Psylocke seems to have lost its immunity to telepathic attacks and a change of reality, because Proteus easily has it. However, his psi knife was able to break control of his host. After the return of Cable and Hope Summers, Psylocke was selected as part of the X-Men "Cyclops Alpha" list sent to search and protect both of the Bastion forces.

Uncanny X-Force

In the aftermath of "X-Men: Second Coming", Psylocke (along with Deadpool, Fantomex, and Archangel) was chosen by Wolverine to become a new X-Force member; the only condition is that no one can learn about the existence of the team. Psylocke has used telepathy to help Warren control the "Archangel" persona in his mind, which causes both to revive their previous relationship. The team's first mission was to find and kill the Apocalypse, who had been reborn. After discovering that the born-again Apocalypse was a child, most teams decided not to kill him, but Fantomex fatally shot the boy. With X-Force, Psylocke also faces old rivals like Reavers and Shadow King. The latter managed to free the Archangel persona at Warren. To prevent Archangel's rise into the Apocalypse, X-Force travels to the Doomsday to look for Seed Souls, which can clean up Warren. Psylocke's discomfort to kill the Archangel causes her transformation into Horseman of Death in her hands. Jean Gray of Age of Apocalypse succeeded in restoring this process, unlocking previously untapped strengths in Betsy's mind, which became the full Omega class telepath after this event. Psylocke stabbed Archangel with Life Seed, killed Warren and created a new creature in his likeness in the process.

After the Skisma between X-Men, while Psylocke decided to remain in Utopia under the leadership of Cyclops, he secretly remained a part of X-Force to help whenever Wolverine asked. Cyclops also put him in charge of the new X-Men Security team, asking him to be a spy and hunter-eye.

Soon after, the England Captain learned of Betsy's activities with X-Force through their ties and decided to take him to Another World, where Jamie Braddock was revealed alive, and punished Fantomex for his crimes. Betsy took Lady Briton's coat to save Fantomex and was eventually forced to kill Jamie to prevent her future from destroying the multiverse. X-Force faces the new Mutant Brotherhood, where the Shadow King is a member. Psylocke imprisoned his soul for good to Omega White, whose ability to eat psychic energy. After this last mission, X-Force is disbanded for good and Fantomex, who has maintained a relationship with Betsy, but died at the hands of the Brotherhood, was resurrected in three different bodies for each of his brains.

As a member of the Cyclops Extinction Team, Psylocke deals with the fall of Archangel's machinations on Tabula Rasa and sides X-Men against the Avengers when the Phoenix Force returns to Earth to reclaim a host. However, Daredevil makes Psylocke question his motives, and he joins Avengers, X-Men and Nova in the final battle against Cyclops. Marvel_NOW.21 "> Marvel NOW!

After the events of Avengers vs X-Men, Psylocke and Fantomex spent weeks in Paris, engaging in drinking, sex, and thieves. While Psylocke and Fantomex grew apart, he and Cluster - Fantomex women 'self - grew closer and more dedicated to each other, resulting in relationships. Feeling jealous about the new couple, Fantomex arranges Psylocke. After Cluster sided with her, Psylocke decided to leave them forever.

Upon returning to New York, Psylocke took a teaching position at Jean Gray's School for Higher Learning. Due to Psylocke's constant attack on students and aggressiveness, Wolverine was forced to fire him, and instead assigned him a mission to drop the Spiral. With the help of Storm and Puck, Psylocke faced his longtime rival and Bishop, who has returned to the present. After traveling through the Bishop's mind, Psylocke manages to tame the Demon Bear in his soul, making an unusual ally from him. He also saved Fantomex from Weapon XIII at the request of Cluster, but left them once again. The Bishop alliance with the Psylocke group made them fight with Cassandra Nova - Queen Revenant - who wanted to release his revenants (or mummuddens) on Earth. Psylocke finally stabbed him to death, breaking his vow not to kill again. The Psylocke group also worked with Cable's X-Force to save Bishop and Hope Summers, both of whom were kidnapped by Stryfe. The posture of Psylocke in this mission impresses Cable.

As an X-Men member, Psylocke joins the all-female squad led by Storm along with Rogue, Kitty Pryde and Rachel Summers, and then Omega Sentinel and Monet, picks up villains such as Archea, Brotherhood of the future timeline, Lady Deathstrike's Sisterhood and The Future. During this time, Psylocke began focusing his strengths on various psychic energy weapons such as bows and arrows, arrows and grapple lines and punches, guiding a small group of students consisting of Hellion, Anole, Broo and Rockslide and kept a relationship with the virtual girlfriend created in Space Hazard.

All-New Marvel NOW!

Behind the terrorist attack known as the Alexandria Incident, which killed 3,000 lives, Cable reshaped the black-eyed mutant X-Force team so mutantkind not only has a sustainable place in the world, but also has a stake in it.. While Cable recruited Fantomex, Marrow and Dr. Nemesis as his team-mate, Psylocke is actually looking for Cable because he can not bear to bear away from X-Force as he admits he is addicted to killing. Their first mission was to track the team and confront Volga, a wealthy businessman who was responsible for the abduction and weaponry of several mutants and stranded mutants. As a member of X-Force, Psylocke became increasingly bloodthirsty, self-hating, and broken from day to day, admitting that killing was the only way she could feel anything. She also maintains intercourse with Cable. X-Force also faces Fantomex, who is pushed to the point of insanity and receives power like a god. Psylocke finally used his mind to ruffle Fantomex's brain.

As a member of X-Men, Psylocke investigates the Providian Shi'ar Order, while taking the Skrull/Brood hybrid, helping Nightcrawler fight the newly returned Shadow King and joining X-Men and Avengers in Genosha to fight Red Skull copies during the storyline AXIS .

All-New, All-Different Marvel

As part of the All-New All-Different Marvel show Psylocke emerged as a member of the Magneto X-Men branch to protect mutantkind by all means after Terrigen mixed with the atmosphere and changed its structure, being toxic to mutants as a result. Psylocke has full telepathic control over Archangel, who is now mentally an empty slate, and uses it as a heavy hitter for X-Men on various missions. Though he does not entirely trust Magneto or agree with his method, he remains with him to find out if there is any trace of Warren left in the Archangel. The more he investigates Archangel's vacant mind to find out what is wrong with him, the more he begins to worry that the Dark Angel persona may reappear as he begins to see the vision of destruction in his head. After considering his vision as a warning from Warren about what will happen he and Magneto travel to Green Ridge, Colorado where his vision occurred and he finds Warren preaching to church groups. After following him around the city, he and Magneto are finally caught in a trap made by Clan Akkaba who is trying to create the Archangel clone. Psylocke then fights against the clones to protect Green Ridge residents and see when Warren joins them to create a new Angel.

Psylocke then quit the Magneto team after being unsure if he could really believe it because more and more secrets after he revealed that he and M have been members of Hellfire Club for a while and are trying to get X-Men officially allied with them. Before he left, he promised Magneto that if he crossed the line then he would kill him himself. When Beast discovers that Terrigen I is saturated and will soon make the earth completely uninhabitable by mutants, Psylocke joins the other X-Men members in the war against the Inhumans, trying to destroy the clouds while the Inhumans fight to protect him. After the war ended, the Magneto X-Men team broke up and Psylocke learned that Magneto worked with Emma Frost and knew about his deception that caused the war. Meeting his promise, Psylocke finds Magneto and kills him. Psylocke then walked away alone, feeling like the world and X-Men better without her.

Characterization

Initial strength

In his earliest appearance at Uncanny X-Men , Psylocke has telepathic powers. He can read and project long-range thoughts; mind control; manipulating people's minds and possessing them; subdue and harness the power of others; affecting people's memories; the mental illusion of the project; and produce psi-bolts that can stun, hurt, or kill others. He can also project his astral self, and the astral body of others, into astral or physical planes. He can scan the whole city with his mind, and leave the souls of the townspeople to learn about their conditions or intentions. He was strong enough to telepathically "shout" to his teammates in Australia when he was in Washington D.C. without the help of a kind of engine that increases power like Cerebro. He can also check individuals to check their status.

When using the power of telepathy, a butterfly-shaped energy aura will appear around his face. It has never really been explained in the comic books by the authors whether this is something that other people can feel or whether this is just an "effect" to show when Psylocke uses his power to audience the reading (though it is implied that it could be). This "butterfly" (sometimes depicted as having an eye on its wings) is also a form of Psylocke usually when it manifests its astral form, both in the astral plane, and in the physical world, though it sometimes uses the illusory image of its physical body.. After the transformation, the Psylocke psi shape changes.

In addition, Psylocke can also use telepathy to project focused rays of directional psionic energy called "psychotic explosions" that can paralyze or kill living things instantly. This attack is powerful enough to penetrate the Juggernaut psi-proof helmet. Psycho-blast is capable of affecting inorganic materials as well as life targets (when directing a psycho-explosion in Sabretooth energy destroys the Cerebro metal helmet he is wearing). Psylocke also has limited precognitive powers that sometimes allow it to imagine the possibility of future events, or to see a quick flash of the future. This vision is random and rare, however, and he has no control over them.

While in the original body, Psylocke was given a bionic eye by Mojo and Spiral which was immediately adjusted to the intensity of light, preventing it from being blinded by brightness. Bionic eyes are also cameras, sending to Mojo everything Psylocke sees. For a while, Betsy took on the British captain role of her sister, wearing a dead Kaptain Briton costume that had been modified by the Mastermind computer. This costume gives him a super human power and the ability to fly.

New power

After his physical transformation into a Japanese ninja killer, he gained a highly developed fighting skill beside telepathy, which at this stage was not as strong as before the transformation, since half of his pphsical potential was still living with Revanche in his original body. After Revanche's death, Psylocke telepathy was restored to its earlier strength. The most common use of its power is the manifestation of a "psychic knife", which operates in the same way as its "psycho-blast" ability, but at close range. Described as the focused totality of his psychic powers, he often uses it to disturb the minds and nervous systems of his enemies by moving the "blades" of psionic energy that light up into their heads. At least once, he uses two psychic knives simultaneously. During this time he chooses to fight almost all the time, using his new martial arts skills, although he can still use long-range telepathic attacks. At least once, he experienced a precognitive flash when in his new body.

After exposure to Dawn Crimson, he also gained the ability to teleport himself and others using the shadow area as a gateway. Teleportation can cover a great distance; on one occasion he sent X-Men from America to Africa in a few seconds. He can also teleport through the shadows of other dimensions. Psylocke has not been seen using this ability since he was imprisoned by the Shadow King in the astral field; during a mission against Stryfe, he mentions to Nightcrawler that he no longer has this ability.

The power of Telekinetic

To keep King Bayir imprisoned in the Astral Nature, Psylocke sacrifices the use of telepathy, but at some point obtains the Phoenix telekinesis instead. At first, because of his relatively new telekinesis, he can not exercise good control over his strength, for example he can blow an enemy through a brick wall, but can not float small objects, like a dime, from the floor. As time goes by, Psylocke is increasingly adept at using her powers, eg. he could use his telekinesis to reshape the pistol into a smaller metal projectile.

Instead of his psychic knife, Psylocke began to manifest a telekinetic katana composed of raw psionic energy. At its very lowest point, the katana functions like a psychic knife, delivering the victim's nervous system to the collision. At the highest level, katana can cut almost any physical problem. Psylocke control over the katana is such that he can slice a steel-coated opponent and cut his armor, but only let his opponent stun or unconsciously. Telesynthetic manifestations Psylocke produces a glow that is visible in the physical world, so that he can use his psychic katana as an emergency light source in the dark areas. Katana can also affect creatures that are stronger than Psylocke itself. He can also use his sword to destroy the telepathic power barrier imposed on others, even though he does not have telepathy. Without telepathy to guide him while performing this task, he must rely on his instinct to provide sufficient power to destroy the inhibitor, without doing any permanent damage to the subject in question. During a time line shift known as the House of M, Psylocke demonstrates the ability to summon two telekinetic katanas at the same time. It is not known whether he was able to do this under normal circumstances.

Apart from the knife, Psylocke can use his telekinesis to increase his speed, strength, and fighting ability to the super human level. He can also float himself and others, or manipulate matter at the molecular level. He can also make telekinetic shields of various sizes and strengths, and his telekinesis has been said to be strong enough to destroy the mountain. After its awakening, Psylocke's teleconetic power has been greatly enhanced. At the time of Betsy's rise, Marvel Girl claims that Psylocke telekinesis is at a level that even she can not match.

After his awakening, Psylocke was shown to be immune to all forms of pseudo manipulation such as mind reading, mind control or mental assault, and telepathic communication efforts. This is the result of manipulation of his brother Jamie from the quantum strings that make up his body. He is also immune or at least very resistant to other psionic-based forces such as the power of disorientation Savage Land Mutate Vertigo, or Nocturne minds that have the ability. Because of Jamie's change, Psylocke is also immune to physical and mental changes by creatures that can radically restructure reality, such as Proteus. He can, however, still be killed in more traditional ways, such as being stabbed or shot. He is also at least partly resistant to magical manipulation. Somehow these various immunities also affect their ability to detect from high-tech equipment. For example, all the censorship-sensors of the Exile Crystal Palace can not detect him - as if he did not even exist. In addition to this immunity, he is able to use his telekinesis to modify his own molecular structure to make himself invisible to at least the naked eye.

However, Psylocke's teleconetic power seems to have evolved with the return of telepathy since his encounter with Sisterhood because, at first, he was rarely seen using his telekinesis to float objects or create his distinctive telekinetic katana. It also appears that he is more focused on the development of the restored telepathic power and that the various immunities given to him by his resurrection in the hands of his older sibling seem to have vanished or at least greatly reduced, as during the Proteus Necrosha event not only was able to possess Psylocke but was also able to alter its body structure. During the "Second Coming" storyline, Betsy is once again portrayed using his telekinesis for considerable achievements: such as making a shield to protect himself and X-23 from a bullet, tearing down the Nimrod robot into two and even reaching what appears to be a form of flight or levitation.

Strength and ability returned

Events involving Sisterhood of Mutants trigger the resumption of its original telepathic abilities. After rejoining X-Men, Psylocke stated that when he was primarily telekinetic, he had gained the mental ability to telepathically "suggest what people see" (ie to cast the illusion of telepathy). In an interview, author Christopher Yost and editor Daniel Ketchum confirmed that Psylocke now has telekinesis, telepathy, and empathy. In addition, he was once again able to focus telepathic energy into a powerful psychic knife and still manifest his telekinetic katana.

As shown in the miniseries event Psylocke , he still appears as a powerful and powerful telepath, with abilities similar to what he had in his introduction, as well as his unique psychic manifestations. knife. Psylocke is also shown to have enough telekinesis levels to increase the strength and strength of its physical blows and counteract attacks through force fields and telekinetic "explosions or explosions". During Utopia's plot, he is seen to manifest his telekinetic katana, but lately he is seen using a pair of traditional katana as well. After the "Second Coming" event, Psylocke determined that his psychic abilities fluctuated in strength; if his concentration is divided due to his telepathic response to his environment, he has an adverse effect on his telekinesis.

During "Dark Angel Saga", the full potential Psylocke receptionist was opened by Jean Gray of the Age of Apocalypse timeline. He was able to overcome Archangel with newly strengthened and enhanced telepathy - a feat that had previously been beyond his control. The author Rick Remender has stated that he is now an Omega-grade mutant/level and telepath is equivalent to Jean Gray and Charles Xavier.

Fighting skills

Psylocke has been classified as a master martial artist, although the special fighting art he has mastered has never been disclosed. The skill and technique of battle Psylocke has been proven beyond those of the average Hand ninja, or the Crimson Dawn Undercloak, and has been said to rival them from a ninja master. In addition to the fighting skills he learned from The Hand, Psylocke recently received training from his professional counterparts from the Sabiles Exiles team and from the alternative reality Ogun, who used science and magic combined to change the course of time itself, allowing them to complete job for life. in a few short hours, thereby improving Psylocke's skills once more.

As a telepath, Psylocke can harness its power in battle by reading the movements of its opponents a few seconds before they make it, giving it a chance to strike back faster. He can also use telepathy to mask his presence from other people, humans and super humans, for example. from super-enhanced Wolverine's senses or from the telepathy of Jean Gray. He can also create the illusion of telepathy to distract his enemies while fighting them, and as a ninja, he can use his psychic knife to incapacitate his opponents rather than kill them; though he will kill his opponents if he feels the need.

As a telekinetika, he often uses his power to increase his strength and speed, making his combat skills strong enough to match, and even defeating other powerful super-human opponents, such as the Sabretooth holographic version in the Dangerous Room. During training sessions with Rogue and Thunderbird, Psylocke was able to counter Rogue's attacks even though Rogue had increased speed and strength at the time.

Armor

During the time when X-Men was based in the Australian outback, Psylocke acquired unique armor possession. Made of an unknown metal, it is light and fitting, yet highly resistant to physical damage, giving Psylocke additional protection for its physical body. The armor is also resistant to projectiles and energy weapons. Wolverine has specially ordered armor through weapons and technology companies named Landau, Luckman, and Lake for "a colleague". Chang, Landau's agent, Luckman, and Lake, borrowed an armor to Lindsay McCabe since Wolverine sent him to him. Tyger Tiger also wore a body armor for a short time, and he was trapped briefly in the armor because of the security mechanisms in it, which Wolverine managed to free him. After traveling through the dangerous Siege and trading the body with Kwannon, Psylocke no longer uses body armor. When Kwannon, in Betsy's original body, returned to Xavier's house, he wore armor similar to that of Betsy, but it has never been officially stated whether this armor has the same ability as that of Psylocke. The same can be said for the armor worn by the original body raised by Psylocke, after which it was brought back during by the brotherhood of Madelyne, wearing armor of the same color.

Relationships

Elizabeth Braddock has been involved in a series of romantic relationships over the years. As a member of Psi Division S.T.R.I.K.E., he was involved with fellow agent Tom Lennox. He was killed while trying to defend him, during which time he was telepathically linked to him. Telepathically, Lennox's death made Betsy traumatized for a while.

Upon returning to X-Men in Kwannon's body, Psylocke, who was paraphonically and telepathically manipulating Cyclops, the leader of his team, became romantically attracted to him. After retrieving his full personality from Kwannon, Psylocke offers a late apology to Jean Gray, admitting that the temptation was due to the presence of Kwannon's personality traits that were still in his mind, but in fact he found the Cyclops interesting. Later, Elizabeth and Archangel had a romantic relationship, but chose to end it after realizing that the differences between them were too great. After Betsy's death, Archangel suffered the sadness of not being able to save him, but ultimately made peace with it and moved into a relationship with Paige Guthrie.

Psylocke and X-Man Neal Shaara were romantically involved until his death. After joining Exiles, Psylocke has teased Sabretooth his teammate. They are eager to kiss each other, eventually causing the two to act more romantic on their romantic feelings. Some time later, Psylocke and Archangel have been seen in the process of rebuilding their romantic relationship. Psylocke then has a brief romantic and sexual relationship with both Fantomex and his female counterpart Cluster, after Fantomex is separated into three people.

Alternate versions

In addition to the mainstream incarnation (known as Earth-616 Psylocke), the characters have been portrayed in comics set in many of the fictional universes and timelines of Marvel Multiverse, including Age of Apocalypse, Days of Future Past, Earth X, House of M, Marvel Comics 2, Ultimate X-Men, and Age of X. These alternative representations are usually very different from the details and events of the main story, without affecting the narrative continuity of the story.

Age of Apocalypse

The "Age of Apocalypse" (Earth-295) incarnation of Psylocke was created by Akira Yoshida and Chris Bachalo. He is an Asian ninja (wearing a mask), although no explanation is given about his ethnic circumstances. He has the ability to produce a psychic knife (the ability that Earth-616 Psylocke is only manifested after switching bodies with Kwannon) that can affect physical matter as well as living things. He frees the captured X-Men and has a brief reunion with Logan, for whom he has a vengeful grudge. Psylocke then fights with Dagger, defeats him quickly, and uses his blade to ward off some X-Men brainwashing; first to Jean, released from Master Sinister's influence, and later on Kirika, which allowed the young mutants to remember that Logan and Mariko Yashida were his parents. At the end of the series, Psylocke and other Japanese members from X-Men (Sunfire, Kirika, and Silver Samurai) leave for the Clan Yashida colony in New Japan.

Age X

In the Age X (Earth-11326) storyline X-Men: Legacy , Psylocke, created by Mike Carey and Clay Mann, Psylocke is still in the original body of Elizabeth Braddock, because never changed with Kwannon. He is portrayed as a member of the Warriors Force, a select group of telekinetics who rebuild the telekinetic shields that protect Benteng X every day. Before the mutant/human conflict, he lived a privileged life among the upper classes of British society, similar to his counterpart on Earth-616. Along with others (such as Megan Gwynn and Jonothon Starsmore "Chamber") are part of the general eviction of the positive families of X-Gene from the UK. The plan was to exile them on a number of small islands in the Irish Sea, but was thwarted when Irish separatists bombed one of the ships carrying the carriers. The Mutual Liberation Front controls another ship (with on-board Chamber) and ultimately can place it in the Canadian port of Saguenay. As a member of the Warriors Force, Betsy uses his telekinesis along with other members to rebuild the wall around Fort X every night in preparation for the next morning's attack. He's in a relationship with Iceman's Age of X.

Past Past Days

The dystopian version of "Days of Future Past" (Earth-811) from Psylocke was made by John Francis Moore and Joe Bennett. Psylocke is not only a Crimson Dawn tattoo on his left eye, but also an extra tattoo on the right side of his face. Psylocke was first seen as a mysterious hooded woman who slipped undetected behind Logan and telepathically destroyed her consciousness. She is the new Red Queen and one of the new Cardinal Lords of the Hellfire Club. Psylocke was seen by Shinobi Shaw when they saw the trapped Red Witch. When Shinobi brags about world domination, Betsy reminds him that without his help he will not be that lucky and he tells him that his name is never far from his mind and that they will rule the world side by side. Suddenly, Psylocke cries in pain and says that Wolverine has bounced back and that Emma Frost is responsible for bringing her back. He calls the Midnight female ninja (Amiko Kobayashi) and instructs him to kill Wolverine, regardless of their past together. Baron Zemo returns to Shinobi and Elizabeth to celebrate their victory, just as Magneto gets into their headquarters. Betsy sensed the betrayal of one of the workers, whom he stuns with his psychic knife and finds out to be an undercover Jubilee. As he prepares to kill the Jubilee, Synch and Leech use their combined power against Psylocke to intervene. Wolverine eventually dropped him with a single blow, remarking that over the years he has been a little "rusty" with his martial arts skills. He was taken back to Emma Frost's operating base and Emma then told Jubilee and the rest of the team that Betsy would be transferred back to his brother in England as soon as his healing was over.

In Excalibur, Earth-9620 Psylocke has no tattoo at all and its eyes are completely blue, with no iris or pupils in sight. One thing that links these two plots with each other and with the original Days of Future Past is the death of Warren Worthington (Angel). Psylocke is a member of the underground resistance against Black Air, the British security service. He was first seen as part of the Excalibur team that runs a mission to save Douglock from Black Air base. Inside Black Air HQ, Psylocke fights against a techno-organic Brood replica and uses his psychic knife to unlock a nerve-connected brain. Inside the locked room, she finds herself trapped along with the rest of the team. What happened to him after that is unknown. This story, "Days of Future Tense," reveals the ultimate fate of Excalibur team team "Days of Future Past".

Exiles

Some versions of characters appear in the comics Exiles :

  • Earth-1081: This Psylocke, created by Judd Winick and Mike McKone, is a member of X-Men and seems identical to that of Earth-616.
  • Earth-2182: The minor character who is an X-Men affiliate with the costume, hair, and all-blue power, is made by Jim Calafiore.
  • Earth-7794: Minor characters killed by Slaymaster; created by Chris Claremont and Paul Pelletie.
  • Earth-51489: A savage female soldier killed by Slaymaster; created by Chris Claremont and Paco Diaz Luque.
  • Earth-72911: Created by Chris Claremont, she is another Betsy Braddock killed by Slaymaster.
  • Earth-80827: Made by Chris Claremont and Tom Grummett, this Psylocke version is a Japanese woman affiliated with Ogun and is known as Lady Mandarin, who was also killed by Slaymaster when they fought.
  • Earth-80911: Married to Victor Creed and killed by Slaymaster along with her husband and children; created by Chris Claremont and Paco Diaz Luque.
  • Earth-89145: In this fact, Braddock was an English pilot, who was killed by Slaymaster as part of his attempt to kill every version of Betsy Braddock in all of Multiverse; created by Chris Claremont and Paco Diaz Luque.

Earth X

It is not known whether the future version of Betsy Braddock of Earth-X (Earth-9997) timeline has ever swapped bodies with Japanese killer Kwannon or if the effect was somehow released, but he was fully European when he was taken to the Otherworld to further hone his telepathic and pracognitive powers under the guidance of Merlyn and Rome. His ability increased, Psylocke's telepathic signature, butterfly image, much larger than before and constantly "light up", bathing his head with a bright pink light. His training was completed, he rejoined his brother, the King of England, on Earth at some point later, when he, Merlyn and Doctor Strange used their power to weaken Mephisto, allowing Brian to kill him.

House of M

In the reality house (Earth-58163) created by the Scarlet Witch, Betsy finds herself as a Royal Daughter named Elizabeth Glorianna Braddock, a sister of the British Empire. In fact, Betsy was actually the legitimate heir to the throne, a few minutes older than her twin brother, Brian, but she resigned to support him, as she preferred to travel and adventure with her baby mother Rachel Summers. Nevertheless, he still has an Asian body, and has the same strength as Earth-616 Psylocke.

MC2

Though not visible in the panel, Psylocke's partner from Marvel Comics 2 (Earth-982) world is at least mentioned. Apparently, this Psylocke acts as godmother to Wild Thing, Wolverine's daughter and Elektra, and she also trains it in using her inner strength. The Wild Thing has no real but poppy claws that he can use in a manner similar to Psikock katana Psylocke.

Millennial Visions

Some versions of characters appear in the comics X-Men: Millennial Visions :

  • Earth-1003: Created by John Paul Leon, Betsy Braddock is a good character affiliated with X-Men and a member of Secret's Secret Service. He, Magneto and Quicksilver were all killed at a summit of peace.
  • Earth-1011: Made by Sean Chen, Psylocke is an evil cyborg affiliated with X-Sentinel.
  • Earth-1017: Made by Pablo Raimondi, Psylocke (Code X 11095) is an Asian ninja affiliated with X-Men, with short spiky hair and a different red tattoo over his left eye.
  • Earth-3933: Psylocke is bitten by monsters that feed on their families while they sleep, and is empowered with superhuman powers and makes it almost immortal, even though he is now hungry for human flesh.

Ultimate Marvel

In the storyline of the World Tour of Ultimate X-Men (Earth-1610), Agent Betsy Braddock was created by Mark Millar and Adam Kubert. He was introduced as a colonel to the British Secret Intelligence Service along with his partner Agent Dai Thomas. As in the mainstream Marvel Universe, Betsy is twin brother Brian Braddock, now a member of the European Defense Initiative (EU equivalent to Ultimat), code named Captain England. His father, Professor Sir James Braddock, still lives in the Ultimate universe, and oversees the super-army program of EDI. He was a telepathist and, judging by his own statement, the strongest in Britain. His "psychoblast" power in his British form on Earth-616 of the universe was manifested as a "psychic grenade" which he "blew up" in the minds of others. Agents Betsy Braddock and Dai Thomas, were assigned to assist Xavier in his search for his son David, a powerful mutant who can physically possess other people's bodies and manipulate reality. However, during the investigation, Agent Thomas was killed and Betsy's body was possessed by David, who began to cause chaos and killed innocent people inside his body. He finally manages to hold back his control, albeit briefly, and begs Xavier to kill him. Xavier can not force himself to do so, but Colossus drops the car at him, killing Betsy and David Xavier.

However, Betsy's consciousness persisted, somehow moving into the coma body of a Japanese girl named Kwannon. Kwannon is happy to move to the afterlife, and willingly gives Betsy his body. Betsy thought his near-death experience was fascinating. The change also made her not have a more formal appearance, as she was seen after her change of body with some cosmetic piercings. He somehow maintains his telepath powers in Kwannon's body and even gains new abilities to make knives that can cut most of the material, even the Sentinel. He is said to assist in the formation of S.T.R.I.K.E., the English division of S.H.I.E.L.D. However, later, he was revealed to have worked under the guise of Charles Xavier as a spy who investigated Fenris's activities.

Betsy officially joined X-Men as Psylocke. Her work with S.T.R.I.K.E. had ended because the body he lived in was underage, making him too young to be a government agent. He was recruited by Bishop to his new X-Men after angrily telling Cyclops that he had turned his back on X-Men and the kindness they could achieve after he refused to help a group of mutants attacked by Sentinel simply because he thought it would make Xavier The Institute looks bad. Bishop then referred to Psylocke as his wife, when the twins Fenris threatened to kill him. Psylocke went to the Bishop about his comments about their future marriage, and from what he said, it was implied that Psylocke had been killed before Bishop returned to the past. Finally, Bishop was stabbed and killed by Wolverine.

Xavier's return from the future reveals himself to be alive and Psylocke begins living at Xavier Institute as a student. He was seen again after the Ultimatum waves hit New York. While the main X-Men went after Magneto, he remained at the Institute. When Rev. William Stryker attacked school planning to kill every student, Psylocke used Cerebro to send telepathic messages to mutants that could help save them. In the end, he survived the massacre at school with Rogue, Toad, and
