Turf is a massively location based augmented reality multiplayer online mobile game developed by Swedish company Andrimon. It was released on July 10, 2010 for Android, and then for iOS. This game was created by Andreas PantesjÃÆ'¶ and Simon SikstrÃÆ'¶m.
This game is a combination of King of the Hill and digital orienteering. The goal is to collect points by taking over the zone and trying to keep them as long as possible in competition with other players. Zones are located throughout the world, but with the highest concentration in countries with active competition, such as in Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Zones are usually taken by foot or by bicycle, and Grass is by many players used as an exergame. It has also been compared to the augmented reality Ingress and Pokée> mon Go games.
The game is played in a round that lasts for a month, but there is a special event set up when players gather in a city to compete. The big event is called Bonanza .
Turf has over 150,000 registered players and is free to play. Players can pay a voluntary fee to receive a "support" status, which gives access to statistics in additional apps, but lacks the benefits of gameplay. The game has received media attention from Swedish, Finnish and Danish newspapers.

Gameplay
Grass requires GPS signals and Internet access on the phone. The goal in this game is to earn points, which is done by taking over the zone and keeping it as long as possible. This zone is taken over by being in a physical place. The game round lasts for about a month. Anyone who has the most points when the match is over will be the winner and will have a chance to define a new zone. Grass like a mixture of King of Hill and orienteering in digital form. Players can see each other on the map directly when GPS is turned on. Players can beat others if they are the first to the zone in question. You can travel between zones in any way you like, but with biking or walking is the most common way.
Events
Once a special game is held. In this "Bonanza", all participants gathered in the city and run a stand-alone game session within a few hours. Bonanza contains a solid zone area separated from regular games to make the contest an exciting championship. The first Bonanzan was held for DjurgÃÆ' ¥ rden in Stockholm, Sweden, on May 21, 2011. In 2016, it was held in Kalmar.
Others, smaller, events occur that are similar to Bonanzas. They can be in different places with different orientations (canoeing, just by foot, long seclusion etc.) On June 19, 2011, one of the first Turf events took place at Dreamhack in Sweden.
An event can also be a closed event where only invited people have access, with small groups like physical school education. By 2016, more than 300 physical education lessons consist of Turf's "orientation".
