Beautiful Molly is a 2012 horror film directed by Eduardo SÃÆ'¡nchez. The film originally had the working title The Possession but was later changed to Lovely Molly . The storyline follows Molly and Tim's newlyweds as they move into the childhood home of the bride, where painful memories soon start to haunt Molly.

Plot
The film opens with video footage Molly apologizes for her actions and tries to cut her throat with a knife. Date is October 16, 2011, and most of the movie is revealed in flashback via video. The film continued with events during Tim's marriage (Johnny Lewis) and Molly (Gretchen Lodge), after which the couple moved to Molly's childhood home with the help of Molly's sister Hannah (Alexandra Holden).
Shortly after the wedding, the couple was surprised when they slept when the alarm system buzzed. They called the police but the officers found no evidence of forced entry. Shortly after, Tim, a truck driver, had to leave town for a few days, leaving Molly, a recovering heroin addict, alone. The film is then interspersed with images from video cameras where a person, most likely Molly, wanders home, and reveals an underground temple hidden in a warehouse. While in her childhood room, she heard something in her closet, although it was not revealed who was inside. Upon returning, Tim finds Molly naked and stares blankly into one corner of her bedroom. He looks fanciful and then does not remember him saying "he's alive."
Molly began recording a little girl and her mother who lived not far from her home. One night, Molly heard a voice from the back door and tried to lock it, but was suddenly pushed back by an unknown force. Shortly after, at work, Molly heard someone whispering her name. A man begins to quietly sing the traditional song "Lovely Molly", accompanied by the sound of nails. The next day, Molly is summoned by her boss, who shows Molly a recording camera recording, apparently showing Molly being sexually assaulted by an unknown troop. Molly became hysterical and was sent home with her sister.
Molly's condition changed for the worse, recording and talking to the dead deer, and trying to seduce local priests. Frightened for his safety, Tim took Molly to the doctor, but suggested she was physically fit. That night, Molly attacked Tim and bit his lip, almost pulling them before running away. Frightened, Tim called Hannah, who urged her to seek medical treatment. In the basement, Hannah finds out that Molly has been keeping a rotting deer, which she keeps stabbing, screaming that their father told her how Hannah killed her. Hannah replied that she was protecting herself and young Molly from their father, and begged her to stay with her and her son, Peter. Molly refuses and then starts giggling, saying that if she did, her father would drive Peter from the stomach down his throat. '
More videos were shown, spying on the young girl's family. The video pot and Tim are desperately sitting with mom on the couch. Obviously they are familiar, and the mother started oral sex on Tim. A car pulls up the drive and it's revealed to Reverend Bobby: Molly emerges from the house naked and both hugs. Shortly after, Reverend Bobby was spotted in the tub, dead and covered in blood and bites. Tim returns home and finds the remaining video camera playing on the bed, showing his recording with the neighbors. Molly hit her head with a bat, dragged her down, and killed her by poking her head with a screwdriver, just like Reverend Bobby was killed. Other video edits show police in the forest digging, pulling away to reveal the young girl's body. The mother sobbed, and Molly escaped. After that, Molly lies naked and cries on the floor until her attitude suddenly changes and she shows a half smile. He walks out of the naked back entrance to a tall figure with glowing eyes, a horse's head and a man's body (resembling the demon Orobas).
As a result, the couple's house was sold. There is no clear answer to Molly's whereabouts or her departure, but the time has elapsed. In their old bedroom, Hannah found a family photo album on the floor. Flipping through the pages, he saw that their father's face had been covered with a horse's head from his collection of frames. Hearing the sound from the closet, he opened it and in a state like-tr reached his arm toward something invisible, similar to Molly's earlier invention.

Filming for Lovely Molly began in late 2010 in Hagerstown, Maryland, with the Dahlgren Chapel being one of the filmed locations.
Soundtrack
The score for Lovely Molly was composed by Chicago-based post-rock band Tortoise and recorded on John McEntire's Soma Electronic Music Studios. The title song "Lovely Molly" is an arrangement of the folk song "Courting is a Pleasure" (Roud 454), a traditional emigration ballad that has been recorded by artists such as The Stanley Brothers (in 1961), Norma Waterson (in 1977). ), and Nic Jones (in 1980).
Reception
Critical reception for Lovely Molly is mixed, with a film that holds a 41% "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 32 ratings. Lovely Molly received a positive review from The New York Times and A.V. Club , with the latter praising the performance of Gretchen Lodge and better comparing the film with Roman Polanski Repulsion (1965). Little White Lies also praised the "transformative performance" of Lodge and the ambiguous "ambiguous" tone of SÃÆ'¡nchez, while Toronto.com wrote that "there's just enough right stuff in Lovely Molly - a flavor spreading from fear, a very evil presence and a cursed hero - leaving a haunting and lasting impression. "
The Globe and Mail highlights the movie, writing that "Some surprising effects in Lovely Molly are confusing, but too many of her ideas are reductive and histrionic." The Newark Star-Ledger also criticized the film, claiming it represented "things we have seen before." The Guardian gave the film two stars, stating that "this film presents us with too many revelations that are not accepted, and it breaks down."
