Production

The series was renewed for the tenth season on 29 January 2014. The creator of the series Hart Hanson resigned as showrunner for the tenth season to focus on his new TV series, Backstrom ; old executive producer and writer Stephan Nathan took over the showrunner role. In January 2014, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly commented that the 10th season might be the last season, but in July 2014, Fox chairman and CEO Peter Rice commented, "I hope this is not the last year... this is a fantastic series, famously moved our entire schedule for 10 years... It [Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz] last year was contractual, so we had to have that conversation... but I hope they will come back. "The tenth season featured the 200th episode of the series, written by Stephen Nathan and directed by serial star David Boreanaz, which was a Alfred Hitchcock award in the 1950s.

In July 2014, John Boyd was cast in the repetitive role of James Aubrey, a junior FBI agent working under Booth. However, it was later revealed that Boyd would be a regular series. Lance Sweets character, played by John Francis Daley who joined the player in the third season, was killed in the season's premiere episode. The decision to kill the character is because Daley needs a break from the series to drive the Holiday Lampoon Vacation Holiday Remake, Vacation, and executive producer Stephan Nathan thinks killing characters rather than just writing he will be more impactful. With the 206th episode of the series, Bones became the longest-ever one-hour drama to produce 20th Century Fox Television studio, and this episode also named all 206 bones in the human body. Emily Deschanel's real-life pregnancy was written into the show (like her first pregnancy), and this season featured the disclosure that Brennan was pregnant with her second child and Booth. The end of the season is written as a potential series finale, as written before the writers know this series is updated for another season.
