The American Academy for Psychiatric Addiction (AAAP) is an accredited professional and accredited Medical Education (CME) organization, based in East Providence, Rhode Island. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Its members are specialists in addiction psychiatry and other health care professionals who treat patients with addiction. AAAP provides a medical education program in the field of addiction psychiatry.

Histori

AAAP was founded in 1985. Originally named the American Academy of Psychiatrists in Alcoholism and Addiction; the name was changed in 1996. By 2015 it is operated by a 21-member medical board, including one person from outside the United States and two students.

Activity

As well as its educational programs, AAAP provides information on the care and support of organizations and rehabilitation programs for families and individuals dealing with addiction. He also works with government organizations and sponsors addiction treatment programs. The official journal reviewed by AAAP, The American Journal on Addictions , is published bi-monthly by John Wiley & amp; Children.

AAAP conducts and reports on studies related to substance abuse. The organization also advocates funding for addiction treatment and research programs.

Custom Projects

AAAP manages two three-year grants funded by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. One of them is the Substance Abuse Treatment Center, the "Clinical Support Provider System for Opioids" (PCSS-O), which funded training and mentoring projects that educate health professionals about the use and abuse of opioids for the treatment of chronic pain. and on the treatment of opioid dependence. It is operated by a group of stakeholder organizations, including AAAP.

The second grant fund of the Clinical Supporting System Providers for Medical Assistance Care (PCSS-MAT), is a project led by AAAP along with other health professional organizations. It provides training and resources to help prescribers and healthcare providers stay up to date with information on opioid drug-assisted drug treatment.

AAAP also directs grants from the Research and Quality Health Agency (AHRQ) that uses social media platforms to inform and assist physicians who complete the Certification Maintenance Practice (MOC) in Practice, the requirements of the American Medical Specialization Board.
