" Addicted to Bass " is a song by Puretone and Amiel Daemion, featuring Daemion on vocals. It reached the top 20 on the Australian charts in 1998. It originally appeared on the album of Abrahams 1998 Sweet Distorted Holiday , and was featured again on the 2002 album Stuck in a Groove - credited to Abrahams' aka Puretone; in the same year, reaching number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the US Dance Club Songs charts.

The original 1998 music video featured Amiel at GL Pro Sound, an upscale car audio shop in Essendon, Victoria, sitting in the car, with installers working at Holden VR Commodore and Ford EF-EL Falcon, installing various audio equipment. The Soundstream SPL series woofers are often shown operating on the heavy bassline of the song. Rockford Fosgate amplifiers, Image Dynamics speakers, JL Audio woofers, and Alpine head units are also featured. Josh Abrahams was shown performing on the deck on the Alpine headscreen.
European Videos
The European Music Video was inspired by the 1979 film Mad Max , filmed using the same path in the You Yangs region of Australia and also featuring actors Megan Dorman and Kick Gurry. The video was created and directed by Jolyon Watkins (Exit Films, Australia) and became a finalist for the 2002 musical promo Muzik Magazine awards.

Abrahams met Amiel in 1997. They collaborated in the writing and recording of his album Sweet Distorted Holiday released in 1998 and the single was credited to Josh Abrahams and Amiel Daemion. The song became a hit when it was released on Shock Records in 1998 reaching the top 20 Australian charts and eventually certified. The Recording Industry Association of Australia listed the song as the 100th best-selling song for 1998 at the end of the year chart. The song is also popular in Triple J Hottest 100, 1998 selected on # 16 and appears on the compilation CD.
The song also enjoys a strong critical response. It was nominated for the "Performing Arts of the Year" of the Australian Performing Association in an award held in May 1999 but lost to "Bus and Train" by the Girl Sarjana. Abrahams was nominated for five Australian Recording Industry Association Awards in 1999 including "Record of the Year" and "Music Video of the Year" for "Addicted to Bass". While "Addicted to Bass" lost to "The Day You Come" by Powderfinger in "Record of the Year", she won the category "Best Independent Release" and "Best Dance Artist" for Sweet Distorted Holiday
Single Europe
The song gradually became popular in dance clubs in the UK and received a positive response in the media. UKmix.net wrote: "This Australian drum and ample vocal piece has torn the dance floor, the radio station, and especially the music television for some time now." The song is credited to Puretone to avoid confusion with Josh Abraham who has worked with Limp Bizkit and Staind. Finally, "Addicted to Bass" topped the break chart and reached # 2 on the UK dance charts in November 2001.
The song was released on the UK charts in January 2002. In its first week of release, her debut at # 2 was almost beaten by "More than a Woman", the number one anum for Aaliyah. The song also reached # 19 in Ireland in January 2002 as well as a composite European chart.
