My Strange Addiction is the American documentary series aired on TLC on December 29, 2010. The pilot was broadcast on May 5, 2010. The series focuses on unusual people compulsive behavior. This ranges from eating certain non-food items to ritual daily activities to strange personal fixations or beliefs.

Premise
Despite the title of the show, some event subjects have what is medically classified as a true addiction, unconventional (substance related) or behavioral. Conversely, the causes of their behavior vary and may include various psychiatric diagnoses. Examples of disorders in this event are: obsessive-compulsive disorder, pica, paraphilia, schizophrenia, psychosis, Alzheimer's disease, sports bulimia, trichotillomania, body dysmorphic disorder, dermatilomania, and object sexuality. Many of these addictions can be considered dangerous.

The Daily News (New York) showcased the show as "the most disgusting reality show on television", while US Weekly gave the series a two star rating, stating "exciting tribulations, but too much time spent on seeing their strange behavior rather than treating it.Only in the last moments, the therapists will visit, and they over-simplify things by suggesting exercises and journals! "
Authenticity
Specific cases on the show have raised concerns that at least some of the depictions are fictitious or falsified. For example, a large number of cases such as Pica in which the subject claims they consume ingredients that are known to be fatal when swallowing in the amount indicated. These include gasoline, camphor (contained in VapoRub), broken glass, and other non-food items.
