Crystal Meth Anonymous ( CMA ) is a non-profit, California-based public company that works as a twelve-step program to recover and recover crystal addicts. Participants in local groups meet to help others recover from methamphetamine addiction. CMA supports complete abstinence from methamphetamine, alcohol, inhalants and all other psychoactive drugs not taken according to the prescription.

History and demographics
CMA was founded on September 16, 1994 in West Hollywood, Californiaby Bill Coffee, a member of the 12-step recovery community in Los Angeles for more than two decades at the time. The first group holds its first meeting at the West Hollywood Drug and Alcohol Center, which Bill Coffee is on the board of directors. By 2015, CMA has been present in more than 100 metropolitan areas in the United States, as well as parts of the UK, Canada, Australia and Iran. The first CMA World Service Conference was held in Park City, Utah in October 2008, in which the CMA Charter was adopted. The purpose of the conference is to bring together selected delegates from CMA groups from all over the world to meet as world service guards and Twelve Steps and Twelve CMA Traditions, Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions followed by Alcoholics Anonymous. The conference does not act as a CMA management agency, but rather as a service agency for the organization.

We have not yet felt the need to elaborate in detail the specific CMA approach to the Twelve Steps: too many other excellent, existing outlines to follow these spiritual principles. But our experience shows that without the Steps we can not stay conscious.
In 2002, the US Department of Health and Human Services estimates 12 million people, ages 12 and over, have used methamphetamine - 600,000 of which are estimated to be current users - with growth rates around 300,000 new users per year. In 2005, a clinic in Los Angeles estimated that one in three gay or bisexual HIV-positive men admitted using methamphetamine. Methamphetamine lowers the user barrier, increases the likelihood of engaging in unprotected sex and sharing needles. In large metropolitan areas, such as Atlanta, Chicago, Miami and Washington, DC, many CMA groups are defined as gay, or de facto gay.
