Cleanser is the television series A & amp; E starring Benjamin Bratt. It debuted on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at 10:00 pm EST and the last episode aired on September 15, 2009, when the show was officially canceled.
It was produced by CBS Television Studios, formerly CBS Paramount Network Television. It was then that the only company series that was not aired on CBS's network.

Synopsis
William Banks is a recovering drug addict who lives in Los Angeles, California. When her daughter Lula was born, Banks "made a deal with God", promising that if she was given a second chance, she would end drug abuse and help others end their addiction to drugs and alcohol. The bank and his little team that are recovering addicts started working to help others recover from their addiction. They will use unethical and illegal tactics to end their client's addiction.
His success in clearing people's addiction has earned him respect by LAPD and other officials, who almost always turn a blind eye to the methods of vigilanteism. In fact, LAPD and other legal officials will often refer clients to the Bank. The bank seems to believe that his job is a call and will therefore work pro bono if the client is too poor to pay for his services.
Banks have a busy life; In addition to his addicted caper, he runs a shop that sells surfing equipment. His shop is connected to the garage where his business fixes cars and surfboards. In addition he also works in a drug rehabilitation center called Transition.
Each episode usually begins with Banks having a one-way conversation with God (or "speaking", as he means), usually asking for guidance and clarity about his mission, the meaning of life and human nature, among other things. Next time, the Bank will voice its complaint to God, asking why He (God) allows bad things to happen. William's one-way communication with God is rather a theme during the series, implying that his faith plays an important role in his serenity. However, are all the scenes in which the Bank is shown to pray aloud to God is real or whether they are merely illustrations of what goes on in his mind, left ambiguous to the viewers.
The show's intro states that Banks also helps people cope with sex addiction and gambling, however, none of which is the focus of an episode.

The Cleaner , whose protagonist, according to A & amp; E, helping others defeat their habits "in any way necessary", was the first original drama for this cable network in over six years. The show is loosely based on the life of Warren Boyd who, as an addicted counselor, has helped people like Mel Gibson, Courtney Love, and Whitney Houston. On October 27, 2008 A & amp; E states they will take the second season of The Cleaner . It went into production of thirteen all-new episodes, and aired on June 23, 2009. A & amp; E chose not to update the series for the third season on September 25, 2009.
