The Secret of Felon Mormon Gay is a one-man autobiography drama written and performed by Kimball Allen. In it, he revived the circumstances of his life that brought him from Mormon's childhood through the life of addiction and, finally, the capture.

Allen was born and raised in Blackfoot, Idaho, a religious, conservative area, and he is one of eight children in the orthodox Mormon family. Even when he was a kid, his harsh Mormon parents were concerned about what they perceived as his unusual behavior and behavior on his part, and his mother preemptively warned him, "Boys do not kiss boys."

At the age of 13, she was raped by an older man who was friends with her at the mall. To overcome this trauma, which he could not tell anyone, he quietly turned to alcohol, and finally the drugs. She began to live a double life - Mormon is obedient on the surface, and under a teenager who struggles with her sexual orientation, her rape trauma, and her growing addiction.

The Allen family moved to Utah, the harshest state in the United States, when he was in his first year of high school. He came to his parents as gay when he was 19 years old. His parents replied that they could not support him in that capacity and that they were beaten back by him. According to Allen, coming out as a gay in the Mormon community is "committing social suicide", and he also writes that "I grow up to be a gay in a loving and supportive Mormon family. When I get out, that love and support disappears."

In adulthood, his drug addiction goes deeper into cocaine, acid, and E, and eventually becomes a shopping addiction that makes him crave higher purchases bigger and bigger. Given responsibility for corporate credit cards, he inadvertently used it for his own little fee in 2010, and then began to addictively embezzle corporate funds for luxury over the cards. The lost funds, totaling about $ 70,000, were known in 2011, and Allen landed in prison awaiting trial. He went through the detox in a prison cell, and desperately began writing journals to understand how he ended up in that situation.

After confessing his crimes and making reparations, coming to terms with his addiction, and realizing that he needs help, Allen continues his journal during his healing process. A coherent narrative is finally formed, and self-examination eventually becomes a script, with the help of an extra hour of watching a home video of itself as a child.

The completed game, The Secret of a Mormon Gay Felon , aired in Kansas City in the summer of 2012. It has also runs in Honolulu and San Diego.

A KC Stage reviewer of the drama wrote, "I am skeptical about how to play an hour, play one person... can." Fortunately, playwright, actor, and Kimball Allen subjects have colorful material assets in the story of his life, the gift for the story, and the charisma that draws the audience from beginning to end.... The audience is swept up in his story while also finding parallels in their own lives, places where they strive to meet unrealistic or unrealistic standards and rules healthy. "

LA Splash writes that "Through her game The Secret of a Mormon Gay Felon, the fascinating Seattle playwright Kimball Allen has found an unexpected help in reviving the painful moments of her life and share his impact with his audience.... He found comparisons for esais and fellow non-fictional David Sedaris felon to be an honor but what he found most valuable was the relationship he made with the audience on stage. "Allen has stated, "I want everyone to go with a different perspective, but to understand that children are fragile, and when you raise a child, there is a domino effect."

Ecumenica Journal calls The Secret of a Mormon Gay Felon "a mixture of acknowledgment and a very personal performing arts". It goes on to note that Allen's new theater work written after the game continues to explore "controversial topics and taboos in previous religions and personal life".
