Location and construction
It is located on 92 acres (37 acres) in Brighton, Michigan (Detroit-Ann Arbor metro, Livingston County) adjacent to State Park and Metro Park recreation area, on Interstate 96 and Kensington Road exits. The predecessor Brighton, Bloomfield Hills Sanitarium, was founded in 1943, with the current hospital campus acquired in 1950. Ludington Peace Center Chapel Hospital was a gift from the Ford Motor Company, originally built by Henry Ford for Camp Legion, and later moved to the Brighton campus after his death. Brighton added an outpatient campus in 2008 called "Brighton at the Corners" in West Bloomfield Michigan, now closed.

Services
Bill Wilson, founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, helped the founding president of the hospital, Harry Henderson, in setting up Brighton Hospital as the first alcohol treatment center and an alcohol addict. Marty Mann, of the National Council of Alcoholism, was also involved in the initial development of the hospital. Since its foundation, Brighton has been recognized and internationally recognized for its 30 day hospitalization program, including Detoxification (detox), Rehabilitation (Drug Rehabilitation) and Partially Domiciliary Hospital. Brighton accepts paying patients in person and those with insurance.
Brighton offers comprehensive in-patient, outpatient and comprehensive after-hours care programs in alcohol and adult substance abuse treatments and Intensive Outpatient Care for Adolescents.
Staffing
Brighton Hospital is known as the national leader in the recruitment and training of the largest number and percentage of certified addiction nurses (CARN, Certified Addiction Registered Nurses). Brighton Hospital offers therapists prepared by the Master. Some Brighton doctors are Fellows of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) the highest level of difference for an addicted physician. Brighton Hospital also innovates the first interdisciplinary friendship training program for doctors in North America to educate physicians in addiction medicine in a clinical setting outside of medical school.
Accreditation and affiliation
Brighton Hospital is a member of St. John's Providence Health System, Michigan, a unit of Ascension Health, the largest faith-based health system in America. Brighton Hospital serves as a Center of Excellence in National Dependency Treatment in Ascension Health. For online aftercare support, Brighton is one of the earliest users of OneRecovery and has a special OneRecovery site for its alumni.
Consultation
Internationally, Brighton Hospital is active in consultations with other addiction facilities and private and government units in the US, Canada, the Middle East Arab region, and other parts of the world. Brighton partnered with the State Bar of Michigan and the Lawyers and Judges Help Program for lawyers, judges and law students, who are at extreme risk for addiction, depression, suicide and other disorders. The hospital offers an extensive Health Professional Recovery Program to serve more than two dozen state-licensed health professions.

Thanks to the cooperation with Hazelden Publishing, Brighton offers Hazelden's books and teaching materials through its campus bookstore. In addition, Brighton Hospital, through its affiliation with The Betty Ford Center in California, Brighton offers a Free Prevention Prevention Program for Children Ages 7 to 12 years who grew up in families who are actively using addicts or restoring people in the household. Children of alcoholics and addicts see: The National Association of Children of Alcoholics (NACOA) is at four times more risk of repeating generations of addiction-generation patterns in their families like their peers.
Other activities
The president of Brighton Hospital, Denise Bertin-Epp, has created a special program marked by the Service, Chief Executive Outreach sm, to make himself available to executives and corporate professionals who seek to help individuals, families and business organizations in crises caused by addiction. Brighton is also an innovator in the development of Electronic Behavioral Health Records for addiction treatment and multiple diagnosis. Her Electronic Behavior Health Record (EBHR0) has been in use for over three years and has improved the quality, safety and efficacy of care at Brighton Hospital.
The Brighton National Addiction Foundation organizes events, grants, campaigns and other forms of philanthropic support and planned deliveries to support treatment, research and education programs that benefit addictive patients, family members and children of addicts and alcoholics.
